What’s New for 2026?

• Permit prices have increased to keep pace with the rising costs of goods and services.
• The Migratory Bird Hunting Permit has been replaced by a Resident Migratory Bird Hunting Permit and a Nonresident Migratory Bird Hunting Permit.
• Duck hunting zone boundaries have changed slightly for the 2026–2030 seasons.
• Duck season date formulas have changed for the 2026–2030 seasons.

Mourning Dove
A slender bird with a rounded head and smooth-looking breast. The plumage is gray brown with black spots on the wings. The tail is long and tapered to a point, with large white tips on the feathers. The eyes are dark. Song is a soft, inflected "coo-AH-oo" followed by several coos.

Eurasian Collared-Dove
The Eurasian collared-dove was introduced in the Bahamas and has rapidly spread throughout most of the United States. At first glance, it looks like a chunky, pale gray mourning dove.
