Nature Art

This class is a series of 12 programs that meets once each month, all year long. Discover the beauty of Missouri’s native stream life—one stitch at a time. In this hands-on program, participants will learn simple yet elegant embroidery techniques while exploring the rich biodiversity found in our local waterways. Over the course of the program, you'll create 15 unique quilt blocks, each one celebrating a different native species that calls Missouri’s streams home.

By signing up you are committing to attend all 12 monthly sessions, with the opportunity to complete 15 blocks.

Conservation Families

65 million years ago, you might have stepped out your door and heard.... ROAR!!! Looking up, you might see a dinosaur. Today, dinosaurs are extinct, but their descendants still live among us. Learn all about this modern-day dinosaur and how it goes "tweet, tweet" instead of roar at your local library.

Conservation Kids

Splash on in for some summer outdoor fun! This free, one-day camp will be full of adventure as we dive into Missouri’s aquatic habitats. A welcome email will be sent prior to the program with full details and a packing list. Snacks, safety, and all equipment are provided. Each child must only register for one camp day per year. Your outdoor adventure awaits!

Conservation Families

Trade in the screens for the great outdoors and embark on a map and compass adventure! Learn the basics of map reading and how to use a compass; then put your new skills to the test. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience, you’ll have fun working as a team, solving clues and making your way through the course. Dress for the weather and wear sturdy shoes. Sunscreen and bug spray are recommended.

Hunter Education Skills Session

This skills session will satisfy Part Two of Missouri Hunter Education requirements. To obtain hunter education certification you must have completed Part One (online, self-study, or classroom session) and bring along your skills session qualifier certificate or student manual with the review questions completed.

Students 15 and under must also bring a copy of their birth certificate or other proof of age. The final exam will be administered at the end of the skills session.

Cooking in Nature

Take a nice, crispy chip, dip it into a bowl of melty, buffalo-flavored goodness, and plop it in your mouth. Yum! This delicious appetizer is called Buffalo Squirrel Dip in this outdoor spin-off of the familiar favorite. Learn just what makes squirrels “limb chickens” in this easy-to-assemble recipe. Participants see a demonstration of how to prepare squirrel meat for this recipe, assemble a small batch to take home, and sample the finished product.
